Mini Masterpieces Book Tour
I've known Alyce from Blossom Heart Quilts for quite some time now - we met through an online quilting group, and our foundation piecing journey started around the same time when we were in another swap group called Wombat Stew (it was nearly all foundation piecing all the time!). So when Alyce asked me to join in her Mini Masterpieces book tour, of course I said yes, and chose the foundation piecing pattern to work on!
Mini Masterpieces (published by Lucky Spool) is a workbook based around 12 essential blocks and techniques. Including techniques from the basics of patchwork, to EPP, and FPP, this book has you covered. Then there's a bunch of projects for you to put your newfound skills into action! You can make both a sampler block, and a larger project.
For the book tour, I made the sampler block,. The below picture is Alyce's version in the book. You can see I went a little differently with my colouring choices (because hello, rainbow opportunity!).
The fabrics used in my blocks are all Riley Blake Designs Basics. A fun grey Hashtag background, with a rainbow made up of Kisses, Blossom (by The Tattooed Quilter), Kaleidoscope, Swiss Dots and Confetti Cotton Solids.
I was keen to see how these blocks would go together to make a larger block. Rather than going the obvious choice of putting all the rainbow meeting in the centre, I flipped the blocks so make an inverse version. Because that's the fun part - there are always options!
