Dream
I'm very excited to officially share my second fabric collection for Riley Blake Designs. Meet Dream!
It's no secret I'm a huge fan of rainbow - this is a rainbow lover's dream (pardon the pun ;) ). There are 24 prints in this line, in all the colours. This line takes that one step further and includes actual rainbows on the prints. You'll also find hearts, raindrops, clouds and clamshells throughout the collection. These prints work beautifully as tone on tones, or for a little bit of fussy cutting.
The colours are just slightly muted to my first collection, Create, so the two lines play together beautifully. The prints are designed to work together as one big rainbow, or mix and match the designs as you see fit. My hope is that this collection inspires sewists to dream big and sew up a storm!
Keen to see how these fabrics look when sewn up? Read on. I've made a whole bunch of quilts and cushions to showcase the fabric. You might like to make a cuppa and settle in as you're in for a whole bunch of photos ;)
There are two new quilt patterns available that I designed for this fabric collection. They feature motifs from Dream, and work up beautifully in rainbow.
Heartfelt is a foundation pieced pattern made up of 9 blocks. It's designed as an intermediate pattern and showcases background fabrics perfectly.
In further exciting news, this pattern is also available as a kit. It comes packaged in a beautifully printed box which will be available in July. I'll also be hosting a Sew A Long for Heartfelt. The second new pattern coming out with this collection is called Lullaby. It's a foundation pieced pattern that features the motif from one of the prints in Dream. It's fairly simple to piece, and is a great way to show off little snippets of fabric.
Both of these were quilted by my amazing and talented friend Leanne of Mount Vincent Quilts.
Heartfelt and Lullaby patterns will be available in both print and digital formats in June. Ask at your local quilt store, or your friendly Riley Blake Designs rep, or sign up to my newsletter to be one of the first to know when they're available.
When I'm not in my studio, foundation piecing my heart out or dreaming up more rainbow, I wear my other hat as the Creative Director of Make Modern magazine. I have a sweet little baby quilt featuring Dream, called XOXO, coming out in Issue 41 (which will be published on the 9th July). This pattern mixes just a little bit of FPP with some simple patchwork - showing off all the rainbow.
While I love making quilts, I also realllllly love making cushions. They are the perfect way to show off a foundation pieced block - plus they're practical. So I made a little collection of cushions showing off the various prints from Dream.
I couldn't resist piecing the word 'Dream' using the clamshell print from the fabric line. It makes for such a fun rainbow. The pattern is available for digital download here. It pairs perfectly with this little rainbow cushion - which is such a fun and easy sew. The pattern for Sing a Rainbow is available for digital download here.
What better for a cushion than a collection of hearts? I pieced these to show off the rainbow colours of Dream. It makes for such a cute little cushion.
The Modern Hexies cushion is made using a technique by Nicole of Modern Handcraft. It's the perfect option for when you love the look of EPP, but don't love the handsewing.
The last cushion featuring a rainy little cloud, with rainbow raindrops is a pattern that is perfect for using up scraps. The digital download is available here.
And that wraps up our show and tell for the new line, Dream! It will be available in stores in June 2021. Chat to your favourite local quilt store or see your wonderful Riley Blake Designs rep so that you too can fill your fabric stash with rainbow!
