Follow the Blue Bird!
I'm very excited to be part of Riley Blake's first low volume designer fabric collection, Hush Hush. If you're a lover of low volume prints, this is the line for you. 21 RBD designers have each contributed one print to create a great collection perfect to use in all your projects.
To celebrate the launch, a bunch of us are sharing a little blue bird project using prints from Hush Hush. Oh and it gets better - the patterns we used are available for free download so you can join in the fun!
Each of the designers involved chose to make a little blue bird block using either foundation piecing, applique or patchwork and turn it into a project. Naturally I went with the FPP version ;) Actually the FPP pattern available is one I designed - and a long time favourite of mine!
So here's my little mini quilt I made showing off all the prints from Hush Hush - with a few blues and aquas from my collections Create and Dream.
I sized the little birds down to 5" blocks and joined them together to create the centre section. I used my print from Hush Hush for the background of the birds (the rainbow stars might be a big hint which print is mine ;) ). A few little squares patchworked together to show off the rest of the prints and it was the perfect size for a mini quilt!
Hush Hush is arriving in stores this month, October, and you're going to want to add it to your stash! Make sure to ask at your local quilt store, or your favourite online shop to nab some of these fun prints!
And if you now want to make your own little cute blue bird, pop over and download the free patterns from the Riley Blake Designs website and start sewing!
